I did an orienteering course with my troop. The troop leaders set a course and told you there is going to be army man at the place. We split up and then we looked for the army men by the calculation they gave us. Sometimes it took us forever to finally find them and sometimes it was easy. Even though my group came in last to find them all it was super fun. When we got back in the classroom we had licorice. Monday, May 13, 2013

The second day of the camp out when I woke up we made breakfast. I was in charge of the bacon and the eggs. My fingers were numb after the bacon. When I was on dishwasher duty my hand got nice and warm until I had to take the yolk out and my fingers got numb again. When we had to take down tents it was impossible to put the tent back in it's bag, but we finally did it. I had a great time making a fire again and that warmed my up.

Fitness bage
Last week I had to do some fitness exercises for scouts. I first had to do sit ups. Then I did push ups. Then I did a jump. The sit ups I did really good on, and I was also good at the long jump, but the push ups were really hard. Next I went to my school to run a quarter mile. I came in second. Next week I will do it again and try to be better at all of the things I did.
Swimming merit bage
In January I did things for the swimming merit badge. I learned how to save someone if they are drowning. One way is laying your body sideways then reaching out your hand to try to crab them. Then if you absolutely have to you should make a loop on one end of a rope and ask someone to hold the non-loop end. Put the loop around your body and say to the person holding the rope to unravel it slowly as you get closer to the victim. When you get to the victim swim around him so he doesn't drown you. Put the loop around him and the person holding the end starts pulling to save him/her. My troop did this at the American Fork Rec. center. It was a lot of fun.

11 Year Old Scout Campout
My first Scout camp out! We left on Friday night. We had to make our on tin foil dinner. It was only an overnight camp out but it was so fun. When we first got there we stretched around and talked about what we were going to do. First, we split up in groups. I am assistant patrol leader so we split
up in groups one getting me and the other getting the patrol leader. My group sharpened pocket knifes and hatchets/axes. Then we built a fire. Our fire was the biggest of course, but it wasn't a challenge:). Then we cooked our dinner witch was so good. Best of all we made banana boats. Then we sat around the camp fire telling stories. I almost forgot when we were done talking in the beginning we set up tents. Then we went to bed at 11:00.
